DOVER, Del. -- For the most part, Sprint Cup Chase drivers filled the top of the speed chart in Saturday's final practice.
And then there was Ryan Newman.
The No. 12 Dodge was fifth-quickest in posting a lap time of 23.899 seconds, making him a possible Chase spoiler in Sunday's Cup race at Dover International Speedway.
His practice times faired better than the qualifying lap Newman's Dodge posted on Friday. He starts 19th in Sunday's Camping World RV 400.
"We made our Alltel Dodge better," Newman said. "We got the car driving better on a longer run, so I'm excited about the race. We worked really hard in getting the car to roll better through the center of the corner.
"No matter what we changed, for the longest time, it wouldn't change how the car would get through the center. We finally threw some things at it that worked, so we're pretty happy with what we have to start the race [Sunday]."
Jamie McMurray stayed in the top 10 during both practice sessions, making him a non-Chase contender as well.
Points leader Carl Edwards led the speed chart at the end of Saturday's final practice session -- 151.656 mph with a lap time of 23.738 seconds.
Last week's race winner Greg Biffle was second-quickest, while Jimmie Johnson was third and Matt Kenseth was fourth.
The only Chase driver not to end in the top 10 during final practice was Kyle Busch, although his car posted the sixth-quickest lap in Saturday's first practice session.
